Robert is a strong leader of people, a great team collaborator and has an incredible depth of
security knowledge.
Robert and I first started working on the same project in November 2020 shortly after I was hired
into Uber's Mergers and Acquisition Security team, where he was the Routematch security POC
when Uber procured the company. The project was to address the results of a Security Risk
Assessment Penetration Test completed by Uber's vulnerability management team that revealed
high risk findings that needed to be remediated. The findings were serious and complicated to
remediate.
Robert immediately began teaming with me to address the findings, and especially of his focus
on "finding a solution" to a security state that he inherited. Never once did Robert avoid doing
the hard work it took to address the issues. Furthermore, Robert was provided added resources
so that he could both address the high risk findings, and keep the RM environment operational,
and when he was assigned his team, he gave them clear and concise instructions, helped them
understand past events, and gave strong technical guidance on how to address complex issues.
All the while managing leadership asks and updates.

I worked with Robert on multiple RouteMatch incidents in a 3-month time. The
incidents involved members from multiple teams. Robert worked tirelessly to address
all the issues during the incidents. The incident response wouldn't have been
successful without Robert's full support and help.
Robert worked very well in a team environment. He contributed ideas and
perspectives for the team to mitigate and investigate the incidents. When
needed, he was able to quickly bring in SMEs to support the incidents. This
demonstrated his leadership. As a leader, he seeks out truth fearlessly, he does
the right thing.
Robert is self-starting. He was always very responsive and staying on top of the
incident response action items. He followed through on all the "thousands" of
big or small action items. He often worked very late at night to make sure what
needs to be done is done.
Robert understands both business needs and security risks. He was able to
articulate both very well in communications.
Robert is a cultural champion. He encouraged collaboration and respected ideas
throughout the incidents.
Robert is also a security champion. He constantly advocated security within his
group. He fully supported the security roadmap for RouteMatch+UberTransit
and actively drove the implementation plan.
Robert is one of the best and strongest partners I've worked with in hundreds of
incidents. I feel lucky that we had Robert in these high-impact incidents.

I worked closely with Robert on the RM Privacy and Security Committee prior to the
acquisition where we would often review potential policies prior to consideration by the
full committee. Robert provided valuable insights while working with me to move the
project forward. I was most impressed with his ability to calmly and meticulously
advocate for additional resources when faced with budgetary roadblocks. I also
appreciate his willingness to explain and discuss security issues and frameworks with
me when I have both customer related issues and questions for my own
understanding.

Robert has been a wonderful teammate to work with. At times when it felt like no one
would listen to the requests from the PSO team, hitting roadblocks from clients, also
those who were not willing to, Robert took the time to meet, listen, and really find a
solution to many of the technical issues that were beyond my scope. He did this with
respect, and kindness, ensuring that he did whatever he could to address the issue at
hand.
As my non-direct manager, he was supportive and didn't dismiss the requests or
questions. His team is top-notch and you can tell that they all appreciate him and the
environment he has created. I commend him for standing his ground on certain issues,
as there are times when one should take a stance and try and find an alternative
solution.
I look forward to continuing to work and collaborate with Robert and his entire team
during our careers.

I had the opportunity to work with Robert both directly and through my Org during
some difficult security incidents post Routematch acquisition.
Robert always sought to do right and I have found him to always act with integrity and
do what he said he would do. He is not only capable (led the mitigations) but he is
also humble. Taking help from teams to create an outcome that is greater than the sum
of it's parts. (Security roadmap, investigations, and processes).
Uber is lucky to have Robert who has a strong drive to impvrove his program and
reduce risk.

#TripObsessed and #DoTheRightThing
- Robert consistently shows a bias to action and focus on prioritization. This initiative to
go beyond the minimum helps the team and helps ensure that all vulnerabilities are
handled within SLA. A recent example was prior to launching a dedicated Routematch
program. Robert wrote a comprehensive analysis exploring the pros and cons of
launching a bounty program in the context of Routematch's capabilities and staffing.
He showed both sides and assessed risk to Uber both with and without a Routematch
program. Robert showed there were many tradeoffs to consider on both sides and in
the end recommended the best strategy was no bounty program at all even though
management did not agree.
#OneUber
- When working with Robert on projects, he adds value by providing additional context
and background from initiatives and efforts both from Routematch teams as well as
other Uber teams. As the Routematch SME, he has information that day-to-day
operational teams may not have, such as what the longer term plan and objectives are,
the priorities of ELT and senior managers, and a more longer term line of sight beyond
today or this week. This helps me and my team avoid blockers and helps us be
prepared and active instead of reactive.
Further, Robert showed #OneUber values by not blocking or limiting his efforts only to
Routematch assets. Robert joined the bounty team via Uber Gig marketplace and
quickly adapted and began helping with vulnerability reports for Uber assets, not just
Routematch. He did this all while handling lead responsibilities at Routematch for the
decommission of the QTS system. He also quickly adapted to the recent divestiture of
Routematch and showed an eager willingness to use his experience triaging and
investigating Uber vulnerabilities to increase effectiveness and add value to the bounty
team while more specific direction and plans are determined by management.

As a gig worker Robert has worked on various tasks in the Bug Bounty team. The
following are examples of his #gogetit attitude that helped reduce the load on the team
tremendously.
Proactive in handling various bug bounty cases
Helping reduce the Bug Bounty backlog by interacting with the dev teams and
explaining the bugs/fix
Showing tremendous interesting in learning new technologies and tools to
contribute to the team more efficiently
The following are examples of #greatmindsdon'tthinkalike
Providing valuable feedback on current processes, especially with the
inconsistent and subjective payout methodology
Providing insight on making the processes better
He also had a #dotherightthing mentality, questioned many practices within the team
to better understand and stood his ground when Bug Bounty payout reasoning didn't
make sense.
